小ネタの秋。
H3-3DやGoPro HERO4にまつわる小ネタを、秋の夜長に夜な夜な書いていくシリーズ。
ということで、一発目はH3-3DをちっとばかしModするでやんす。

H3-3DとGoProは “主に” USBポートを介して、充電や映像出力するわけですが、”主に” というのは、H3-2Dや初期型H3-3Dでは背面のDock Connector接続だったからで、ケーブルレスデザインなZenmuzeとしては、それが本来の姿。
コストカットか、パーツの入手性なのかは知らないけど、H3-3DのGCU付きが発売されたのを機に、Dock ConnectorからUSB接続へ仕様変更されたのが、今日の姿。H3-3D-hero4-5
このUSB接続、リボンケーブルが切れやすかったり、付け外し時の煩わしさもあって、大不評。
(切れやすいのはDJIも承知の上なのだろうと思われ、リボンケーブルのスペアがデフォで付いています)
ボクも1度切断したのを機に、ジャンクのH3-2Dでも落札して、基板を流用しようか…などと考えたのだけど、ジャンクでも結構いい値がついてて手が出ない。
と、そんなこんなと思案していたら、Dock Connector仕様 へ改造するアイテムを発見したので、早速交換するMod、という今日の流れ。

内側のリッドを外して、コネクターを仕込み、外したリッドは背面でネジ止め。作業は至って簡単だけど、基板のコーナー部分がタイトで、ハウジングに収まらなかったので、ヤスリで軽く撫でる程度に削りました。

ということで、本来のケーブルレスな姿を取り戻したH3-3D!! これだけでルックス完成度５割増。

さて、このDock Connector仕様のH3-3D、実はHERO4(Black Edition)とのマッチングに問題がある。
おそらく、HERO4 (Black Edition)のBus Portの仕様が変わったものと思われるが、映像が出たり出なかったり、充電ランプが点かなかったり…
独自プロコトルを使えるBus Portならではの仕様変更を予見して、汎用性のあるUSB接続に先手を打ったのだ、とするとDJI、オヌシなかなかやりおる(笑)

と言いつつ、この問題、解決方法はあるので御心配なく。
問題の発端は、HERO4をH3-3DのDock Connectorに接続すると、Battery BacPacが接続されていると誤認識してしまうこと。
Battery BacPac接続を示す、バッテリー２段表示のアイコンに変わっているのが確認できる。

HERO4ではBattery BacPac接続中と認識すると、映像出力をオフにする仕様になっている様子。
このBattery BacPac誤認識は、給電の無いDock Connectorに接続した状態で、GoProの電源を入れると発症する。

ということで解決方法は
LiPoから給電されている状態で、GoProの電源を入れる事(もしくはGoPro再起動)

これでBattery BacPacの誤認識が解消されて、映像出力がアクティブに。
稀に、上記の手順で、バッテリー表示が1本に戻った後も、映像が出ない事があるけれど、そんな時は何かしらのボタンを押せばOK。
ちなみに、Dock Connector経由で給電中のHEOR4は、充電中ではなく、バッテリー満充電済みと認識している様子。
つまり、充電中ステータスの赤LEDは点灯しない、ということですね。
本体電源がONで充電中の時は赤LEDは点灯しない。

このコネクター、秋の小ネタとしてはなかなか良い品。GLBあたりでは$15弱。
ちなみに重量は、USB比1.1g増の2.6gでした。
